Paper Craft Ideas For Busy Families
By admin | January 28, 2012
Though you might love doing crafts together with your family, busy schedules and hectic lifestyles can sometimes make it difficult to enjoy this fun activity. But, just because you’re a bit short on time does not mean you need to give up your family craft night altogether. The secret is simply picking crafts that are quick, easy and cheap. When it comes to quick crafts that require only cheap supplies, it’s difficult to beat paper craft projects. Both you and your budget will just love these easy paper crafts that you will be able to have fun with at your next family craft night.
A Time for Scrapbooking
Many women initially think that both men and children do not share their passion for scrapbooking. The truth is that this just isn’t the way it is. Scrapbooks can easily be fun for nearly everyone, particularly since there are so many options to pick from when making them. For instance, while you may enjoy planning a scrapbook around a holiday or special occasion, your husband may be more focused on documenting his latest hunting trip. Young children really like making scrapbooks that incorporate some of their favorite characters from TV shows as well as cartoons. Scrapbooks can also be a great alternative for families who don’t have sufficient space on their walls to hang up all the pictures they like.
Because of the ability you have to work on them in segments, scrapbooks can be a wonderful idea for a night time craft project for the whole family. To make the procedure even easier, it can be helpful to create a “creativity kit” for every family member. You could use a plastic box or tote to store everything that each person will need. Be sure to include a pair of age-appropriate scissors, a few glue or tape products, markers or coloring pencils, a ruler and a variety of different embellishments. You might also designate one large box of different papers and cardstock that is meant for everyone to share. When it is time for family craft night, just toss a vinyl tablecloth over your dining room table to preserve the surface and you’ll be ready to begin having fun.
When making scrapbook pages, it’s important to remember that sometimes you might create a page that’s just too special to hide in a scrapbook. When this happens, it can be a great idea to display your favorite pages in metal photo frames instead. By doing this, you’ll have the ability to get even more satisfaction from your creation. If you wish to do this then it would be great to select family photo albums that will make it easy for you to put in and remove pages with little hassle.
The Ancient Art of Origami
The ancient art of origami is another great choice for a family craft night. You may use some of those small scraps of paper that you have left over from other projects for your origami. While there is specific paper designed just for origami, it is not difficult to find different kinds of paper you can use for it instead. Colorfully designed scrapbook paper that features designs on both sides can be an especially good choice. An origami project instruction book found at your neighborhood bookstore or your library is all you will need to transform useless paper scraps into beautifully folded artistic creations.
So bring your whole family together, pull together some colorful craft paper, and let the good times begin!
